Creme Egg Cake
March 9, 2012 by tearoomdelights
If you like Creme Eggs and you like cakes, you might like this Creme Egg cake. I saw it today on Twitter and was quite overwhelmed:

That came from Mimi’s Bakehouse in Edinburgh:
http://www.mimisbakehouse.com
I strongly recommend looking at the Gallery on that website, prepare to be amazed.
Hats off to Mimi!

OMG…this looks delicious!!! Thanks for sharing
I know, doesn’t it look incredible?
Ahhhh… if I were in Scotland right now! Beautiful gallery of pictures. Such a creative place. Thanks for sharing, Lorna
You’re very welcome, thank you for your lovely comment!
That looks amazing (although my teeth hurt just looking at it!)
I know what you mean!
Wow…I think I got a bellyache and a cavity just looking at that. But I have to admit that it looks tasty.
I know, it’s a bit overwhelming isn’t it?
Oh my. Heading over to the gallery…
You’re in for a few treats!
It’s a fantasy come to life, isn’t it?
That’s exactly what it is!
Looks Yummy…. Wish I was in Edinburgh!!
Me too!
She’s definitely got the goo going on!!!
Hasn’t she just!
goodness this looks amazing!!!! I love creme eggs!!
)
It’s just so decadent isn’t it?!
O…M….G! Funny, I seemed to have died, not felt a thing and I am now officialy in Chocolate Heaven! I’m simply speechless (she says, wiping the drool from her mouth…)
Incredible, isn’t it? I was bowled over when I saw it.
Im in love!!! This is amazing!!!
I’ve been eating far to many creme eggs lately, this has just given me an excuse to make a cake from them!
It’s fabulous, isn’t it? If you make one I look forward to seeing it on your blog. I still have very fond memories of that other amazing cake you made with the sweeties all over it.
There are more and more delicious reasons for me to visit Scotland!
Too numerous to mention, but I’ll keep mentioning as many as I can!
OK, we went from decrying the unhealthy state of hospital food to a Cadbury creme egg and now a Cream Egg Cake! Do I detect a bit of a split personality here? Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?
The cake, btw, makes me want to buy an airline ticket!
You’ve got me bang to rights guv, I am guilty of scoffing unhealthy foodstuffs and of alternating them with salads. It’s one extreme to the other. Mind you, I do consider chocolate a health food on the whole, but I admit I might be pushing it with a Creme Egg.
Chocolate is made from plants which makes it a salad, and ketchup is a vegetable dense with lycopene. I use artifical sweeteners to make more room for chocolate.
That’s simply the best argument for chocolate I’ve ever heard. You’re my hero!
They outlawed opium, then cannabis. Creme egg cakes will be next.
No one can enjoy themselves that much legally.
Ha ha. If Creme Egg cakes became illegal I think I’d have to move country.
LOVE! We were just talking about this too. How wonderful!
Isn’t it!
Looks really delicious
The more chocolate the merrier!
Good point, it’s very hard to say no to extra chocolate!
It is! I just had some chocolate for breakfast this morning
I like your style.
Haha, we should have chocolate for breakfast every morning
I regularly do!
Overwhelmed? Let’s just say there have been tears…
LOL – no, not that bad yet on day two of no chocolate (that heads a much bigger list of noes btw) but gee… I wish I had a scratch ‘n sniff screen on my laptop for this pic!
My dear girl, what can I say but more apologies. I should have put a warning at the top so that you could avoid looking at it. I used to collect scratch ‘n’ sniff stickers at school, you’ve just brought a memory soaring out of the past with that comment.
That cake must be glorious! Are they showing this commercial for cream eggs in the UK? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU_DquNOCbU
That’s brilliant! Thank you for posting, I hadn’t seen that advert, no. They have had some really great adverts over the years and that one is inspired!
Mimi’s Bakehouse sounds amazing. And in Edinburgh? I must find an excuse to go there!
Me too, I’ve been told of a few good tearooms in Edinburgh since I left there a number of years ago and it’s high time I investigated them. Have you ever been to Loopy Lorna’s in Morningside?
No!
I’m sure I’d remember! I’ve been in a couple of coffee bars and eateries in Edinburgh – Valvona & Crolla is amazing. The others are memorable mainly for a darkly haunting atmosphere. Deacon Brodie’s Tavern in the Royal Mile… and we’ve visited two in West Bow, up from Grassmarket. I will try to remember if it’s any help!
Thanks Jo, any recommendations very welcome! Valvona’s is amazing, lovely coffees. I used to go there for breakfast now and then when I lived in Edinburgh, it felt very civilised.
I’m really sorry but I can’t remember the names of the other places. They weren’t that memorable and I think one of them might have closed since then. If we visit any really good ones in the meantime, I’ll be sure to let you know!
No problem at all Jo, it was a very kind thought all the same. I’m always delighted to receive recommendations, but I don’t expect them. The fact that they do close down from time to time is one of the things that makes writing guide books a bit of a dodgy business.
Highly enamoured by this delicious cake – think I need to go eat some Creme eggs now
Cheers

I know, every time I look at it I’m amazed all over again. The way the eggs are broken over the top does make them look highly attractive. Enjoy your Creme Eggs!
Drooool! That looks so good! My kids are egg anaphylactic, so I am constantly seeking out pictures of eggy-goodness to eyeball and imagine eating
Lovely pic of it too!
Thanks, it does look amazing doesn’t it? I think I would have trouble not wolfing it if I had it in my kitchen. Do you mean your kids can’t eat hen’s eggs, or Creme Eggs?
Hen’s eggs (though usually, the cream eggs have “traces of egg” so they can’t eat those either)…bummer, isn’t it?
Poor souls, that is awful. I didn’t know Creme Eggs had traces of egg in them.
